Learnings

This school year I learned many things regarding the subject Computer and Practical Arts. I learned about things which are not common to me like making a blog and creating the dev c++.

• First Quarter-I learned about internet, its history and, concepts regarding it ; I also learned about HTML which is a computer language used to create hypertext documents, allowing connections from one document or Internet page to numerous others. HTML is the primary language used to create pages on the World Wide Web.
• Second Quarter- I learned about flowcharts which are diagrammatic representation of the operations involved in an algorithm or automated system. Flow lines indicate the sequence of operations or the flow of data, and special standard symbols are used to represent particular operations.I also learned how to use different symbols and shapes which creates and organizes thoughts in a flowchart.
• Third Quarter-I learned how to create different kinds of programs which uses dev c++ for programming. I learned how to make inventories, conversion programs, loopings etc. I also learned different codes which are essential in making a program.
• Fourth Quarter-I learned how to make a blog which is also called online journal and diary. A diary which is available via internet. I also learned about handicrafts which is an art that uses your hands in making something. And also I learned about crafts which can be a source of trade and art.The fourth quarter lessons helped me improve my abilities in arts.

I learned many things this year, in this subject which has a purpose. The things I learned in this subject are not nonsense instead they are very useful because you could practice it until you grow up. This subject taught me many values like patience, perseverance, hard work, creativity, resourcefulness. etc.

Favorite Movie

The Sound of Music

A classic movie of the 1950`s which depicts the travails of the Trapp family during the German war in Europe. The story is set in the rastic alps of Vienna, Austria. Starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.





















a. Why did you choose that movie?

I chose that movie because it is a classical and musical one which is both entertaining and educational. I just love the music and songs from the movie. It is a movie which has a universal theme and may easily appeal to different generations. It has a central theme on love, family, survival, patriotism to country and love for music which I feel I can relate to.

b. What part of the movie struck you most and why?

The part of the movie that struck me most is when the Trapp family fled their country secretly through the mountains to escape the German Nazis. This is a very touching scene that when the whole family only had one another and sacrificed their material wealth . They remained loyal and patriotic to their country and refused to be under the regime of the invading German Nazis. Despite the trials and tribulations the Trapp family remained solid, united and in high spirits. They even sang along the way to divert their attention from the impending perils and dangers.

c. With which character in the movie can you relate most? Why?

I can relate most with lead male character, Captain Georg Ritter von Trapp. I like his strong personality and character. He is an ideal role model. He is strong, steadfast, a disciplinarian but at the same time have a soft heart for his family and country. As a naval military officer he inculcated discipline among his children and love for country. I want to emulate him and grow up to be a disciplined and principled man.

d. What are the morals you have learned from that movie?

The movie despite being entertaining and musical instills the moral values of love for family and country, loyalty, discipline, determination and the will to survive even under great pressures and trials.

Artificial Orchid

a. What part of the orchid did you feel difficult to make?

The part of the orchid I felt difficult to make is the petals because there are many kinds of flowers with sometimes similar petals, so i needed to make the petals look like those of the real orchids by shaping it inorder to make it realistic.

b. What did you learn in making the orchid?

In making the orchid I learned patience, perseverance, hardwork, pain because of the hot gluegun. I also learned that when you see that your work is almost done, you want to finish it right away and make it more presentable. As you go along your work you use your creativity and initiative.

Artificial Butterflies

a. What did you learn in making the butterflies?
I learned that making butterflies is not that easy because you need time inorder to make your work nice. It needs your creativity, patience and imagination of an actual butterfly; for you to be able to make your work realistic.
b. Give at least three (3) significance of the artificial butterflies.

• It can be a source of decoration; in a way that you could use it to decorate your house and many more places or things but it should be well made and decorated for it to be attractive.
• It can be source of income; but you should first specialize in it for you to be able to make elegant butterflies and be able to sell it in good prices.
• It can be a source of therapy for people; in a way that, it is being made by students to serve as projects; it is being made by people for them to be able to sell it. By making it, you will be able to show your creativity and passion for arts.

My artificial butterfly is nice. I decorated it myself. It was made by considering the size of a real butterfly and the form of it too. May you appreciate it. If you will like it, tell me, I will make more for you. Enjoy.

Family Day 2008

Last February 24, 2008, the family day was celebrated. It started with a motorcade from the La Purisima Campus going to the Fr. William H. Kreutz Campus. After the motorcade, a mass was celebrated at the high school lobby wherein the main celebrant was the current president of ADZU, Fr. Tony Moreno. After the mass various games were played by different families. The celebration ended with a fireworks display. Many families enjoyed it and went home happily.

a. How did you feel in making the picture frame?

At first I felt it difficult to make a picture frame for it was my first time to make one but then I was able to make it. My friends gave me ideas on how can I make a picture frame and from there I tried to make one of my own.

b. Compare your picture frame from other frames that are displayed in the department stores.

I think my picture frame is nicer than those displayed in the department stores but not in the sense that its more attractive and well decorated rather than its my own; a masterpiece which I can treasure for it is original and made by me even though I know it was not that nice.
